That was the first model year of the S197 platform so yeah they had problems. They are known for water leaks, if its rained lately check the carpet on the driver side and passenger side see if its wet. Water would run down inside the doors and out onto the carpet. Hard to say if the previous owner ever noticed or got it fixed if it had the problem which I am sure it did or does. You would know pretty quick if crazy electrical things started going nuts like car locking and unlocking its doors etc.

$16.1k for an '05 GT sounds damned high if you ask me. The water leak TSB is serious as it causes corrosion of the Smart Junction Box resulting in all sorts of electrical gremlins. I paid $13.5 k over 4 years ago for an '06 V6 loaded with only 9k miles on it. 05 GT's can be had for $10k - $12k now if you look hard enough.

With barely driven 5.0s now going for mid $20k in some places, I wouldn't pay more than $15k for an '05 GT in perfect condition. Wait until the 2015s come out and you'll find even better deals.

If I had to sell my '07 that's been loved and maintained religiously with 65k miles, it'd be going for $14k to start and then negotiable.

For an 05 I would consider that high you could get a 2010 for 18 to 20 at least. I would get them to come down its a first model year for crying out loud.

Yea there are definitely better deals out there.. if it was maybe an 08-09 GT with those miles then thats another story but not for an 05.

Kelley blue book value for a GT deluxe ranges from $13K to just under $16k; premium version $17k to $19k. Never pay what they ask, there is always some wiggle room.

+1 on checking for the leak issue. I've had my 05 since new, now has 57k miles and have never had any issues with it.
