Hp difference between 87 and 93 tune ?
So I'm wondering what the horsepower difference would be between a 87 tune and a 93 tune?
I have an 08 GT, CAI, 87 American Muscle tune, ford racing axle back exhaust, hurst shifter and nitto invo tires, that's it for my performance mods.
Would it be worth the higher gas price to run 93 tune and if so what gains would I see?

I think it depends NOWADAYS on the mixture you're buying. You can find places that sell 87 Octane without any Ethanol mixed in and you'll see better performance and mileage than you would from a load of 93 octane with a 10% mix of Ethanol.
I'm told that with a higher octane tune and a Manual you can go with a more aggressive tune and see higher HP and torque gains in the mid to high RPM band. Can't say for sure...I don't remember what my stock tune was like....that was too long ago.
I only run 93 octane....But I have tried 87 without ethanol. I also tried 100 octane race mix.
IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE. The CAI and a tune will however add more fuel consumption into the overall equation
As far as economy...its also about your driving style and habits... ON A STOCK ENGINE or with a CAI.

He does elaborate about the Addition of a proper Tune to account for the addition of a CAI...
Again...the tunes typically adjust for more fuel to air in the mix at the target RPM bands for torque and power...so if you're typically light footed you will not see any decrease in mileage and economy (not that a Mustang GT is all about economy, but it matters more for some)
If you like to hit it hard and push the revs up to 3k and above in each gear....then power will be experienced with a loss of any economical merit.
The best way to find out.....
Try the higher octane and see what it results in for you....You can always switch back from that tune.

Here is a post by post Furinox on his opinion of the thought that tuners save you gas mileage.
I am not sure why people say the gas mileage is going to increase because it really is not. If anything it is going to stay the same or go down. If you compare your current fuel mileage using 87 octane to your post tune mileage using higher octane of course you will get slightly better mpg because of the higher octane. What I think most of you really want to know when you ask if your mpg is going to go down or up is if it will end up costing you more at the pump after a tune and my answer is maybe. Some of you may disagree but pre-tune lets say you are getting 20mpg using 87octane at $2.50/gal. You have a 16 Gal tank so 16x20=320 miles per tank. The highest octane is usually a minimum of $0.20 more per gallon so considering a slight increase in fuel mileage could be 22mpg? Ok, so 22x16=352 miles per tank. so for a fill up from bone dry 87 octane is $40.00, fill up from bone dry with 93 is $43.20.
So...with 87 octane you are paying 40.00 bucks for a tank of gas and getting 320 miles.
With 93 octane you are paying 43.50 for 352 miles.
Thats an extra 32 miles for $3.50 more at the pump
with 87 octane $.125 cost per mile.
with 93 octane $.113 cost per mile.
If your gas station only charges $0.20 more for the highest octane and you actually see at least 2 miles per gallon increase while using it then it is about .01 cents more economical to buy the higher grade fuel.

Do not jump for joy yet. Other factors are going to go into account once you tune your car. It is my understanding that a CAI brings more air than fuel into your engine and that is why you require the tune. The tune tells the computer to add more fuel to the motor to account for the extra air thus giving you the extra power. Let me say that one more time, the tune is telling the computer to use MORE fuel. The amount of fuel we are talking about though is very minute.
It is my opinion from knowing what I have stated in this post that with a CAI and Tuner your MPG is actually going to go down, but so little that you wont really notice it unless you keep your foot in it.
All in all the Tuner/CAI is a great thing to add to your car for power and that little extra oomph. The only thing that is going to drastically change your fuel economy is you. -Furinox

I've never dyno'd by car but I can feel the difference. What's even better is running a 93 octane with methanol/water injection, then you're running around the same octane rate as race fuel with nowhere near the costs.

What injection kit are you using? And does it use a venturi on the intake tube or a fogger plate under the throttle body?

My Brenspeed 93 tune tends to be a monster in the upper RPM range but that's not where I spend most of my time driving. My 89 tune is more suited to my driving so you may want to do some comparisons in order to choose a tune for DD'ing and maybe save the the other tune(s) for "other" circumstances.

I like the 93 tune just for the improved throttle pickup. But, there is something of a seat of the pants difference over the 87 tune, and 93 isn't that much more, I just run it all the time. Oh yeah, the car sounds cooler with the 93 tune also, probably from the aggressive timing, but I like it

Not using any currently, but I've seen it done on a guy's vette I used to know and he had some great success (over 60 HP). I have one I just bought coming in the mail now, it uses a spray injector in the intake tube. The kind with the plate usually has multiple nozzles and it probably better on high horsepower applications, but one nozzle should suit my HP range just fine.
