Default I have electronics envy...

So I just got my wife a 2013 RAV4. Nice little SUV. The part I love the most is the stereo package. Bluetooth/Nav/Aux/USB ports. All very cool. What's everyone's opinion on the best aftermarket system.

The 05-09 Mustangs are very easy to put aftermarket in the dash compared to the newer mustangs. Look around at double din units. maybe Crutchfield

Crutchfield is easy to use. Looks like there are plenty to choose from.

Since you have some experience with this do you have any recommendations or brands to stay away from?

You can get in a new Pioneer doube-DIN with BT, iPhone support, etc for around $125 on eBay or other online retailer. Crutchfield will be slightly higher, possibly much higher. You'll need an install kit and wiring adapter (a different one for Shaker integration) - those generally run less than $20/each. The kits look pretty decent as well. I'm planning on going this route, as I'd like the BT/hands-free options. You can also spend $400 or so and get NAV/touch screen/etc in the same size unit. There are some good install threads on here or AFM (I forget which). A Google search for AVIC install + Mustang should get you results.

In my experience, the only brand I'd recommend staying away from is Sony. I've had excellent luck with Pioneer in the past. I've had numerous Sony units, and they've all left me unimpressed.

I like Pioneer, Clarion, and Kenwood. I have had one of each and each one I liked. most all of them have reviews, and its the same as car parts... you get what you pay for.

Right now I have a Clarion with satellite radio, I-phone, Nav, HD radio, Backup camera, DVD

Double-Din units will look better and be capable of much more with the screen. I can post some pictures of mine in a little bit.

I've done 2 Pioneers and one Clarion. The clarion had slightly better sound IMO but the Pioneers have more features and functions. For the money, Pioneers cant be beat (other than the AppRadios which don't review well)

To heck with envy for only the electronics; envy the entire car.

I'm on Toyota #6 with the first 5 totaling just a tad over 1,000,000 miles with non-preventive maintenance being less for those 5 than any ONE of my previous (pre-1981), domestic vehicles that barely went 120,000 miles before being ready for the scrap heap. Congrats on your wife's new toy!
