Default Two tone paint scheme suggestions

I have an opportunity to trade some equipment to a body shop in exchange for having some work done. I've always wanted to take the car two-tone. The hood is fiberglass and needs to be redone anyway, so I'm thinking while they're at it we can change the color. (Along with the roof and trunk.) I'm liking the idea of a metallic burnt orange/rust with a silver or yellow pinstripe to separate the colors. And I think we'll just follow the body line at the top edge of the fenders/doors. Probably make the side view mirrors the same color as the top.

I've also kicked around the idea of a dark blue on top.

What are your thoughts?

Sounds good......orange......and drop down about 1" below the body line with the top color.

That's actually another good question. An inch below the body line. So that requires me to trust the guy to keep that line true to the body line. Is that something to worry about? I suppose he could just run a 1" piece of tape along the top edge then another under that first strip to mark where the "real" edge should be huh.

Any painter worth the money can lay lines for two tone paint. I have seen crooked lines even when they follow the body line....all in the eye to hand ability.

I saw one at a car show with burnt orange on top and black bottom and it looked great. A friend is planning to two tone his with a copper top and black bottom. The photoshop looked really good for that scheme.

I like the copper idea too. I don't suppose you have a copy of that photoshopped car. That would be cool to send to the guy. Do you remember if he had some pinstripes or something separating the two colors?

Google two tone Mustangs and see several different styles for the dividing line.

Yeah. I have. Didn't really find what I was thinking of in my minds eye. Guess I'll keep looking.

Just went through a paint chip book and the leading candidate for the orange is a Toyota color called Hot Lava.

I don't have one but next time I see him I'll ask him about it.
