Default "rough" idle

Hey guys, so today I had started my car and after a minute or so the car started to idle kind of "rough". The RPMS would bounce around from about 900 RPM up to about 1000RPM and then back down to about 900 RPM. It only did it for maybe 15 seconds and then it stopped and went back to a normal idle. I was just wondering if that has happened to anyone else and if anyone may know why it did it.

Your throttle body has some carbon buildup. This is a very common thing with our cars. Very easy to clean. Disconnect the intake tube and the sensor wire that plugs into the throttle body. Then pull the throttle body, be careful of the gasket in there. Then take a tooth brush and brake cleaner and clean off the black stuff. You can in the throat of the intake manifold too, just don't drop anything down in there.

this is brief, but there are real how to's and videos floating around. Focus you google fu, young learner.

+1 on cleaning the TB as your first step. If the problem continues:
  • replace fuel filter
  • clean MAF
  • run a tank or 2 with the proper SeaFoam mix

Could also have been a little moisture in the fuel system.
