I have 75K on my 10 GT. I am going from Boston to Orlando and back this fall. I have all service done at the dealer I purchased the car from and always get an excellent report card.

Other than oil and brakes, what other preparations do you suggest I do to a car with this mileage?

Tranny fluid change? Rear end?

Tires are OK.

Nothing. 75k is just a baby IMO, but a vast percentage of the over 1 million miles of experience that I have is based on Toyotas where I can jump in any one of mine with 200k miles and make that sort of north-south run.

Other than knowing the fuel filter was replaced in the last 20-30k miles, I'd just ensure the air filter is relatively clean and double-check your tire pressures.

Whew, that's a long drive.

I would just say check all the vitals before the trip, make sure the tires are properly inflated, and just make sure you're up to date on any "regular" maintenance stuff.

Beyond that, no reason to be intimidated because highway travel is pretty easy on a car. Years ago, I had a 1994 Tempo that I paid a whole $650 for, and I drove it all the way to St. Louis and back (about a 1200 mile round trip) without a single issue. I've never worried too much about long trips with any car that's been reliable for day-to-day driving.

This will be my third round trip with the Mustang and it has proven to live up to the "GT" moniker. By far the best long distance cruiser I've ever owned!

Maybe take along a belt kit. Belt/Socket/Ratchet/Belt routing diagram.

^^I keep one myself, but being supercharged with a penchant to throw belts... I felt it a necessity; I also keep a spare tensioner just in case lol

If you do all of your scheduled maintenance just take off and enjoy the trip. As was mentioned you may have your belts checked if you're concerned. A AAA membership may be in order though for just in case something weird happens.
