Default Compass Mirror install

Good Morning,
My 2007 CS didn't come with the compass/outside thermometer rear view mirror. Has anyone DIY installed one?

I installed one in my '06 GT 'vert. Kind of a PITA to install, but it works great and I'm glad I got it.

Please give me some details. Did you buy an OEM setup from Ford? Wrecking yard? I've still got a month to go before the snow is gone, could be a project to tackle in the meantime...

If you are talking about installing the OEM mirror then I think you should know it doesn't have outside temp. My 08 has the compass mirror and it only has a compass.

I'm going to replace it with an aftermarket/other OEM mirror with a screen in it to get a backup camera and homelink.

My point is I won't bother with the 07 mirror. Maybe one from a later model has more than a compass and that might be a route.

Not sure where the outside temp sensor is located, but installing it and routing wires could be a chore.

Completely different vehicle but, I installed a Gentex auto dimming compass/temp mirror (from a Chevy truck I believe) in my old '94 F250 several years ago. I would assume the Ford mirror would be similar, but it literally required 3 wires to wire up and function (out of the 16 that were on the pigtail). 12V switched power, ground, and the wire from the temperature sensor. The compass was built into the mirror.

I was able to tap off the fuse panel in the truck, and the temperature sensor I was able to run the wire for underneath the weatherstripping on the door and tuck underneath the fiberglass visor on the cab. On a Mustang I'm sure you could find some easy place to put it like inside the fender.

If you can get a (non-OnStar) mirror with pigtail, and temperature sensor you could likely do the same thing, if you do want compass and temp and the Ford one doesn't have it. Otherwise, I'm sure you could find online how to retrofit the Ford one.

Back in 06 I did this "Just ordered a Mazda dimming mirror # 0000-8C-G14A; Homelink, compass and temp from worldpartsexpress.com for 237.90, 17.84 shipping and 2.00 handling, ttl 257.74. Can't wait to get and install it." I don't think worldpartsexpress exists any more or could be changed.

I have a 2007 GT Premium Coupe wth the auto-dimming mirror w/ compass. I dont' like the auto-dim ! It doesn't dim noticeably. I bought this car new in June of 2007 and it's never worked to suit me. Does anyone know of a way to adjust the sensor or replace with a manual dim (yea, I know I'm crazy) ? Does anyone make a mirror with manual dim and a compass ? THX.
