I am debating between the Barton STS with the 2 post bracket, or the Ford Racing STS with 2 post bracket. Any suggestions, or experiences to share?

I just had a Barton shifter installed last week. It felt a bit stiff at first but it's beginning to loosen up some the more I drive the car and I love it. The throws are short, positive, and the gears engage smoothly with a mere click.
The Barton is a quality piece of kit and I'd definitely recommend it.

 

Any reason you're not considering the best? That would be MGW.

 

I would also like to hear MORE feedback on the aftermarket shortthrow as well

 

I would agree as far as quality but if you're looking at the shortest throw, the Hurst is the one.

 

Normally it is pretty stiff at first but then you work it around and slap it back and forth. The more you use it the looser it gets. After a while you might need to go under the hood and tighten the linkage up......

 

Why not install a short shifer that you dont have to go underneath and adjust, thats what I want

 

like stated before, get the MGW and be done with it. you get what you pay for I.E. read Hrst and other reviews. the MGW is pretty much infinitely adjustable top and bottom to get the throw you want. its solidly built and doesn't rattle at all.

 

The MGW is undeniably a very good shifter and was the best until the Barton came along. Now I'd say the Barton and MGW are equally the best, and the Barton doesn't need to be adjusted if it's set up right in the first place.
