Default Noisy Interior?

Hey guys,

I hope you don't mind but I wanted to reach out and get some information & opinions regarding the noise level inside your rides.

We have developed a 4 layer sound deadening mat that takes about 30 seconds to install. Its pre cut & it just drops in. Place it over your carpet/mat in your trunk (there is not no adhesive) We designed and have been selling these for the Corvettes for years. It does a great job in taking out tire/ road and some over bearing exhaust noise (for long trips).

However we are looking to see if other makes and models have the same noise issues & could benefit from our mats.
UPDATE!
We actually made it for the 2015-2018 and its doing well. However, each gen is different and we would like to test and see how it does with previous gen Mustangs.
I could not think of a better way to get solid info & opinions then to speak to the enthusiasts themselves.

Do you guys get a lot of tire & road noise? This applies especially to people in certain states like TX, FL, CA, where some roads make the tires roar.

Stock or after market exhaust to loud for long trips?

Since we want to make the mat pre shaped, I was wondering what years/gen if any, share the same trunk shape.

I appreciate any help. Thank you for reading this!

Ed

Thank you Mike. It is doing very well for that car for many of the gens. So we wanted to see if the Stang encountered the same type of noise problems.
Based on some feed back...yes.

I'm just looking to see whats years/gens. I see you have a 2007 correct?
I believe the truck on the 5-10 is the same.

Do you get a lot of tire/road noise or exhaust...etc

Thanks

Wow we have been seeing a lot of responses from 05s. I think they share the same trunk space up to 2010.
Thanks!!

Not to be dense or anything, but, I'm guessing that this extra material in the trunk "works" because the road noise that we hear is more from the rear end than "under" the car and from the front tires. Primarily, because the trunk is sharing the interior of the car. And that adding in the foot well areas wouldn't really add much "bang for the buck?"

I do know that I had a BMW that I took the rear seats out for a few days as I had them reupholstered, and I was surprised at how much more road and "car" noise I heard. That being said, although I really like how my '05 GT sounds, a noticeable change in the level would be appreciated by me. You mention "8 db's" what type of percentage would that be?

You are correct.
There are a few things that factor in. Starting with the Corvette, there is not much separating the exhaust and the cargo area. A thin pan and little insulation is basically it. The sound from the exhaust and the tires comes right through and that cargo area becomes a resonating drum. The Mat we developed (Blockit) absorbs and suppresses interior noise. It does a great job with out putting anything over the wheel well humps.
The Mustang can have a similar problem. We have heard that some exhaust but mainly tire noise is the culprit with the Stang. Like the Vette noise leaks in through the rear via the trunk area.

Are you getting too much Tire/road noise or exhaust?
Now when I mean exhaust I don't mean that sweet note it produces. The Blockit lets that through. I'm talking about when its over bearing where you can't have a conversation and it tends to fatigue on long trips. Possibly Drone?

Let me know what your experiencing..- Thanks!!

Yes the 05 to 10 all share the same trunk. For me, im trying to lesson the exhaust drone from my magnaflo cat-back. Even without the cat-back the road noise was high in the car in my opinion.
I have been shopping for sound deadening material for a while so im very motivated to try out your product. The car is coming out of storage this week so im ready!

Hi Ed, I've got a V6 2011 and would love to see a product like that. Although the noise in the car interior isn't bad, I get both exhaust drone from the Magnaflow mufflers and tire noise. I remember when I bought plush car mats for the interior I actually noticed that the interior noise went down a bit. Which is great because I'd rather hear the stereo than tire noise. Plus I used to be involved in high end car stereo for years and I'm pretty sensitive to that kind of thing. If you guys ever need someone to test your gear (that also has a Spl meter) please let me know. I'm sure your product is a ton easier to install than Dynamat!

This car can do it all: Susp noise, gear whine, exhaust drone, tire roar, depending on mods. It's generally not severe like a tube chassis race car but, it is there.

The main culprit here, as I said and in my opinion, is the flobbery trunk floor, which acts like a kettle drum and amplifies noises from other things. I made a noticeable difference on my 2012, by just tossing a large wool roadside emergency blanket in the spare tire well.

My 2014 is much better in this regard, partly due to it being an auto and thus having a softer gearset out back which helps at the source of diff whine. Ford also smeared a bit more monkey snot on the big flat panels in the rear, to combat sympathetic vibration and noise amplification. I can still push the trunk floor up and down easily though.
