DAYUM Hammy...

You let you Daughter drive your mustang ?????????
Hehehe...not yet, but it's inevitable that they'll each get a turn at driving it. My oldest won't be driving until May, but that's coming quite soon enough...

Of course, it's a priviledge they'll have to EARN (via safe driving with the old minivan... [8D] )

By the way PW, I can't imagine the time you must put into your red beauty...it sure sparkles!

While at a shop that reupholsters the Mustang seats and puts new convertible tops on...they told me to be sure and put the boot on when the top is down because you'd be surprised at the garbage that gets in there that can mess up the mechanizims in there.

Hammy... THANKS! I appreciate that! I wash her once or twice a week, Wax her probably every third weekend or before a show.

Wildabouthorses... I avoide driving by garbage dumps at all cost! Don't park across from the Macdonalds drive up window either - people will use your car for a trash dumpster as they exit the window.

I left the boot cover on for the first two or three months that I had the car, since I had no reason to put the top up. Then I found that it was becoming very difficult to close the top. So I've left it off for about the past month or so and try to put the top back up as often as possible. I think it's almost stretched out enough, so maybe I'll put the cover back on again.

Based on what I've seen with my previous convertible, keeping the boot cover on keeps everything else much cleaner. I'll have to work on being able to install/uninstall it in under a minute.

Well, I like the look both ways. Now I just have to wait until may for the nicer weather... That's what you get for buying a convertible in September in Ontario.

No boot here. I just can't be bothered. Statistically boots wind up in one of three places after a while. The trunk, the garage or the trash. Ford purposely designed the new top to look more finished when down in order to avoid the need for a boot.

reviving an ancient thread to ask a dumb question; does anyone else have trouble fitting the front "tongues" of the boot under the interior section covering the back window? I don;t want to damage it stuffing it in there, but it doesn't seem to fit....

I have had an '89 ragtop for 10 years, most of that time with the convertible top boot stored in the basement. The mechanism is all covered with crud.....so I will try to avoid the same fate for the 2006.

Any helpful comments regarding those front tongue pieces?

I use the boot on day trips to the beach and if i have the top down all day. It only takes about a min once you get the hang of it. It looks very clean because it covers all the rails and all the other parts you can see with the top down.
