Default New Shifter

Finally broke out toy for summer. I want to upgrade to aftermarket shifter in a '07 GT with 5 speed.
I was wondering what the thoughts are regarding the shifters out there.

There's only one to consider-MGW! It's the god of shifters.

X 100

One of the best mods I have done, never got locked out of a shift again.

Yep. Listen to them^^^^
MGW all the way. I went with a Hurst at first. It rattled like crazy and would lock out gears all the time.
MGW is better in every way and worth every penny.

Yeah, the MGW is very good but it's not the only one out there and certainly not THE GOD. I have a Barton shifter and it's even better than the MGW that a friend of mine has on his '07 GT.

I like my Tri-Ax especially because I got it for $150

If you're spending full price on a shift though definitely go for one of the "good" ones. The Tri-Ax is good, and well made, but the centering spring is so stiff it takes some extra effort to get into 5th, that's my only real gripe with it.

The centering spring is pretty stiff on the Barton too but I've got used to it. Feels very meaty and definitely not for anyone (ladies?) expecting light, flick-of-the wrist gearchanges.

There's a ton of MGW owners that would argue that point with you. I was in the "Beta Group" that got one of the first 100 MGW shifters For the S197 series Mustangs. I have well over 100K miles on mine and it's as good or better than the day I installed it. Also, MGW's customer service is second to none. I'm not saying Barton is not a great shifter, it probably is, but you'd have to pry my MGW out of my cold, dead hands, LOL.
