So I'm gonna purchase some hot rod cams for my mustang and I was wondering would it matter what kind of cam phasers I should get to go with the hot rod cams or reason I ask is because I have to replace the cam phasers anyway so do I need any specific phasers or can I just put new stock phasers in it.

 

There are no phasers other that original style ones. Some of the bigger cams require limiters or even lockouts, but the hot rods do not. Good idea to replace the phasers while you're in there though.

 

I'm not sure what year they started, but there is an updated version for the 2006 version for those replacing phasers. You can also buy limiter kits from livornos. Ask your builder, go with what they recommend. They are not cheap for a set.
