Default Lug nuts

Hey Guys,

I need to purchase a new set of lug nuts and a lock set. I don't need anything fancy, and not black or chrome. I am not looking to spend more than 25 on these. I bought a set for my corvette and it only cost 20, so I imagine this would be the same.

I haven't don't much shopping around. I looking for a consensus on this - this place is the best place, with the most options, cheapest price, whatever. I don't really want to spend the time shopping all the different sites to save a few dollars. I am hoping the experience on this forum will just point me in a direction and I will run with it.

Thanks.

you local autostore has them probably about the $20 you are looking for. I know americanmuscle has many sets too but might be higher in cost

My personally opinion is that cheap is cheap does. How much is your life worth keeping your rims on the car.

I bought the following: DORMAN 711205 (Bulge) Chrome Bulge Seat Acorn; 4 Per Pack $3.67 from Rockauto. I would not recommend lock nuts DORMAN 711221 Acorn; 4 per pack. I broke one putting it on by hand and another one gave me the feeling of breaking before reaching torque. I sent the Dorman lock nuts back and bought McGard 24197 Chrome Cone Seat Wheel Locks $28.23 4 pack from Amazon. I found out that McGard's are the Ford OEM locking lug nuts.

Depending on your rims, the stock and some after market rims need to have the bulge seat acorn style lug nuts to properly center the rim to the hub. I know you were asking for the cheap route but the above is what I did. If you do not need locking lug nuts than 5 4-packs at $3.67 would be $18.35 not including shipping. Hopefully this helps you.

What am I looking for to know if I need the "bulge seat acorn style lug nuts"? I did not realize the style mattered.

Basically the bulge seat acorn "B" or "D" has a more pronounced wider/longer flare so it centers the rim to the hub. Standard lug nuts "S" work with stock steal rims. The standard acorn "A" will work but when you see it on the rim there is not much surface area in contact with the rim. For most Ford rims you will see them with the bulge nut holding them on.
