Default 2007 GT500 or 2012 GT?

I'm sure there's been all kinds of threads like this on here, so I apologize in advance for another one. My 03 Mach 1 was totaled back in early September and I was looking to get either a 12 GT or an 07 GT500. Both are about the same price and have around 40K miles. Right now, my daily driver is a 2000 F-350 7.3 with almost 345K miles on it. I still have a 93 5.0 LX, which I've had for almost 17 years. It needs a fuel pump and I've gotten it already, just haven't replaced it yet, due to a busy work schedule and pressed for time.

So I'd like something a little newer and it comes down to these. Since I probably won't be able to look for another 2 or 3 weeks, due to work, these cars could be gone by then. I'm in the market for either an 07 GT500 or an 2011-2013 GT. I have $20K in cash to play around with.

I know enough about the 07 GT500, as my best friend had one. I have never driven an 11, 12 or 13 GT. So I guess I'd like to know more about them? Thanks in advance and help is greatly appreciated!

I would get the 12. The Mustang quality improved in 2011+
I have a 2006, & love it, & the style more than the 2009+ style, but thats me...

As much as I would like a GT500, the '07 was the year that they had issues with them. It isn't a model year I would go with.

And Gravy is right, the '12 has so many advancements over the '07 anyway - plus the 5.0 - that is the one I would buy

I'm definitely leaning towards the 11 or 12, maybe a 13 if I find one in the price range and decent mileage.

My best friend had the 07 GT500, but he gave it to his son when he got his license. A decision that was very controversial with his mother! Haha.

I remember his clutch went out fairly early, but my clutch went out fairly early on both my Mach 1 and 93 5.0, which may be more indicative of my driving habits! He's got close to 130K miles on the GT500 right now, maybe even over 130K miles at this point.

I've never even ridden in a Mustang newer than the 07 GT500, nor do I know anyone with one. So I'm not really sure. My best friend is planning on getting a brand new GT350, but that's not in my price range at all. Even using $20K for the down payment, I don't wanna make those kinds of payments for 5 or 6 years. Maybe when my mortgage is paid off in 2025! So yeah, I'm leaning towards the 12 GT. I want something that I can keep for 8 years or so, while I'm still making payments on my home. I still have the truck and the 93 LX and a bike, so it's not like it will be my only ride. I probably will drive it the most though. I had the Mach 1 since brand new and I considered a new one of those, but I see them going for $15K or $16K and don't wanna spend that on a 13-14 year old car and it won't be the same as the one I had. So I don't have much desire for another one. It won't have the same luster or feeling.

I'm intrigued by the new 5.0, I gotta imagine it's a bit different from my old school 5.0!

Thanks guys! Any more input is still appreciated!
