Right now I'm currently using 87 octane and I'm pretty sure that's what my Cara tuned for, do you guys recommend getting a tune for 91 octane? I want as much performance gains as I can get cause +20 hp and +20 torque would be very noticeable I think!
Not always, first off, you have to read the fine print, is the advertised gains at the wheels or at the flywheel?

Secondly it all depends on how the power is mapped. Sometimes the gains are on the upper spectrum of the RPM range, other times it's midrange or lower RPM's it all depends on who does the tune and what the objective is (around town, highway, track etc).

In some cases you can have choice. AM for example offers Street, Performance and Race tunes. The Street tunes have more low end grunt for city driving but typically have less of an increase in peak numbers than Performance and Race. Race most often has the highest Peak numbers but most of it is at the higher RPM. Also fuel will matter. In order to get more power you need to use higher octane fuel.

Most places will offer like a Street tune at 87, Performance at 89 and 91 and Race is on 91 only. Again, all depends on who the tuner is.

Save the CAI money and just get the tune. I'm going to have to make a custom enclosure for my CAI so it actually takes in fresh air instead of boiling under the hood. Live and learn I guess.

Agree in the case of the 3.7 V6. Keep the stock airbox with a K&N panel filter and do a 91 octane tune.

No worries. Just get a custom 91 octane email tune and enjoy it. The CAI itself won't add much to the performance but you do get a nice, throaty induction roar.
