Default 2005 cluster

Hey guys so my 05 cluster fuel gauges died, so I re soldered the new battery back and it still wouldn’t work.im thinking of buying a used cluster from a 06 or a 07 mustang base model. Would there be any compatibility issues and or unwanted light ps coming up? For some reason a used version of a 2005 cluster is much more expensive than an 06-07 model. Also I know that the mileage won’t be the same but I just want all my gauges to work. Thanks

If you're handy with a soldering iron, you can simply replace all the gauge stepper motors yourself and save a bunch of cash. You can find them in sets of six on ebay for peanuts. I just did mine recently and all of my gauges now work perfectly. The procedure takes a couple of hours and is quite straightforward, but you need to be patient and careful, especially when it comes to removing and reinstalling the gauge needles 'cause they can easily break.

I did do that, I soldered it with a new battery and it didn’t work so I put in a new battery and still didn’t. So that’s why I’m thinking of just putting a new used cluster from a different year. Not sure if it would be compatible

Why do you keep talking about a battery? The issue is the stepper motors.
But regardless you should have no issues with a newer gauge cluster other than the TPMS light, not sure which year that came in, but it's also possible that the fuel sending units are bad... when you "key on" does the fuel gauge needle do a sweep just like the rest of the needles? That should tell you if the stepper motor is bad.

I believe it was for the 2007 model year.
