Blend Door Actuators Replaced But Still Acting Up
I recently replaced 3 actuators on my 2007 mustang because of the annoying clicking sounds they were making. Apparently the clicking sounds are common and the actuators are relatively cheap and easy to replace (except the one on the driver side, it was a real pain to get to). Everything was working well for a while but then the actuator on the driver side started making a groaning noise. The groaning noise is worse than the clicking. It sounds like plastic components are bending and about to break. To make matters worse, one of the other actuators (the upper one on the passenger side, I think) started making groaning sounds too. For the most part the AC is working fine but the air flow switches between the defrost vents and the front vents back and forth uncontrollably. Sometimes the switching stops on its own, sometimes it doesn't. Has anyone had similar issues after replacing their actuators?
Also, I'm starting to think that the actuators aren't the main problem. The original clicking sound was annoying but the AC was working fine. Seems like the fact that the actuators were trying to change settings (I assume that's why they were clicking) even though I hadn't adjusted the settings is a bigger issue. If I'm not adjusting the setting, why is the actuator trying to open or close a bend door?
