Smile convert 2006 mustang to 2008 shelby gt500

I have a 2008 Shelby GT 500 that I just crunched on the track that has only 10,000 miles on it. I bought a 2006 Mustang GT that is very nice however I would like to put the 2008 shelby front bumper cover on the 2006 Mustang GT. with headlights ETC. Can this be done and or with slight modifications?????? I plan on taking everything off of the 2008 Shelby and converting the 2006 to 2008. EVERYTHING. I would love any advise.

I'm going to guess that is very doable as I don't believe back then the fenders weren't any different. Obviously engine wiring harness may be different and that would have to be transferred.

Thank you very much. I have an idea that I am going to need all the help I can get. I have also restored a 1969 mustang 428 Cobra Jet which ended up taking more time than I ever thought.
If you have any other advice i will take it. Thank you again.

The GT and the GT500 body shells are the same so if you strip both cars down to the shell and swap everything over from the GT500 to the GT shell, it should be straightforward. As you strip the GT down, you could start selling parts from it to recoup some of the cost. You could then recoup even more money by selling the damaged GT500 shell.

Thank you, that gives me more confidence . I thought I would strip the 2006 down to nothing keeping track of every nut ,bolt, screw, wire and everything else. Then start removing parts from 2008 Shelby GT 500 and installing them on the 2006 Mustang GT. If that is the wrong approach feel free to tell me That there is A better way, I am not beyond taking advice from anyone or anything that makes sense. I really appreciate you sharing your Knowledge. I need to start ordering parts and would like to make sure they fit.
Thank You

Stripping down the 2006 GT is definitely the best way to start. As you remove the wiring harnesses, label every connector so you'll remember where they all go. Either take lots of photos or video your work so you can also remember in which order everything needs to be reinstalled. These measures will save you a heck of a lot of time!

Thank You , I will definitely do that. I found out that you think that you will remember this or that but when the time comes you have no idea how it went back together , so you end up taking it apart and putting it back together multiple times. Again I appreciate all the advice. do you know the best place to look for front bumper covers ETC..
Also I am not sure the best way to use this forum? I am sure I am not getting full advantage of it. Any suggestions?
Thank You

You need to use the front wheel liners from the GT500 ( only the front half) and the foam piece behind the front bumper as they are different. Also you'll have to use the wires from the GT500 to the fog lights as the GT's won't reach - cut and splice. Other than that everything else bolts right up.

I used this parts list to order from Ford dealer back in 2007.

Thank You Lenko. That is the exact answer I am looking for. I am soooo relieved that this can happen, I want to get back on track by spring (and stay on it ) LOL.
I bought this 2006 mustang GT thinking it would be a no brainer until I went to buy front bumper and it 2007 on then I got worried. You Have made my day.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH....
