I have a 1.1 mile drive to work. Strangest thing happened this morning. I was turning left at a stoplight and my car beeped at me. Apparently for no reason.

Well, then it beeped several more times on my way to work. No indicator of why it was beeping.

Finally, I happened to notice once out of the corner of my eye that a light in the dash flashed when it beeped. I couldn't tell which one it was, though, only that it was a red one.

A few moments later (I'm driving around just to try to get it to do it again at this point) I was able to tell that it was the "door ajar" light.

Well, in the end I finally realized that my trunk had come a little loose and was triggering it when I would hit a bump or something. Not sure how that happened to the trunk all of a sudden, though.. it's been about two weeks since I last opened and closed the trunk.

Pretty weird, but I thought I would share my lame story. Hopefully it was the trunk and not just my luck that it stopped after I opened and closed the trunk again.. but it did seem to stop, at least for now.

 

I've had that happen to me before. What had happened was my friend put his bag in my trunk and it had rolled around and pulled on the emergency release handle. I guess the car beeps so that if one of the bodies you put in there is still alive and trying to escape, you'll be able to pull over and... take care of it...

But yeah, that might have been what did it!

 

It's just wrong that some people refer to their wife or girlfriend as "his bag"! And I won't even ask why he put her in your trunk.

 

One time I had something in the trunk and it slid around enough to catch that little hanging emergency open grab tab. I apparently grabbed it enough to cause the trunk latch to engage. I stopped and closed the trunk lid and no more beep. I thought it was my cell phone going off at first.

Maybe you accidentally pressed the trunk release button on your remote, that's happened to me once or twice.

 

Yeah, I'm starting to think that's what I did... that's the best explanation, at least.

 

lol...when reading your post i remembered my story that almost made my heart fall off..

on the highway i got the signal to turn and get the bridge so the bridge comes like a circle that takes you like a highway u turn hehe anyway the signal was still on and i was so relaxed hearing the music of V8 and said yeah this is the life..lol and then suddenly i heard that long damned beep during that beep i had many thoughts....one of em is maybe the traction went of and my car is sliding but i cant feel force...or that my engine will blow up..or that because i forgot something ..and many many more so when i saw the gauges it said turn signal switched on or something like that haha...damn signal...

 

Same thing happened to me, but I quickly realized what that was. We have an exit (next up from my house) where the ramp itself is almost 1/2 mile long. 1/2 way through it... beep beep beep.
