new goodyear drag radial?
has anybody seen these yet? i though i had a picture in one of my 5,000 copies of mm&ff or 5.0 magazine but i can't find it now. google search just gives me sizes. i'm wondering if it a race only dot like m/t and hoosier or can it be driven safely short distances? if anybody can find info thanks in advance!!!

I saw these also. I am led to believe they are a comparable tire to the BFG drag radial. A fair weather driver that is more at home on the track.

They are comparible and supposed to be the competitor for BFG. Remember though that ALL drag radials are made up of the same rubber compound as street tires so you won't get that much (admittedly some) 60' difference. The MT ET Streets are the only street legal tire that is made up of the same compounds as race slicks. Though legal, they are not much good for the street and you'll only get about 2-3K miles on them. But they are a serious adaption for the track and about the best you can get as it is very tough for us to find true race slicks that will fit our rotors. If the track is very close, I just drive them there and if it's more than a couple miles, I drive my street tires and put one MT in the trunk and 1 MT in the back seat behind the passenger seat. It only takes me about ten minutes to swap them out and I do it in the tech line. I bought a little cigarette adapter compresser from Pep Boys for $39.00 and it works great.
hey spyder, did you go with the m/ts, or bfgs? i was riding all over the place with my drag radials on. even in the rain you couldnt tell a difference. road noise was the biggest diff.
The main thing to remember is there is no tread - or lack of that. I havee BFG drag radials on both cars, all the time (345s on the vette, 315s on the Camaro) You simply cannot drive these cars even at 20 mph on wet streets.
Also, I get only about 4000 miles on a set before i wear the tire down to where there is no tread left, and that is without a lot of track time.
Still, it makes a big difference if the goal is to put that power to the pavement.

i'm thinking bfg just because it's a little more streetable. i'm only going to use them to drive to the track, race then drive home. i'm keeping the stock bullitts/pirellis for real street use. i just scared of getting caught in the rain since my home track(less than 5miles away) just closed for good. now i'll be driving about an hour to one of two tracks that are nearest. i don't want to change tires at the track. if i have to do that i'll just buy slicks and trailer it. i probably won't put 1500 miles on them per year.
