Hey guys, I just recently purchased a black 2005 mustang from someone that was stolen and striped for $775. The entire drivetrain was striped and sold. I have a $17,000 budget and i'm obvioulsly not going to put another V6 in it. I want an engine that will put out at least 550hp without supercharging or nitrous. I have about 5 years of welding experience so changing motor mounts and some other issues like that isn't a problem. I'm in the process of adding more beef to the frame right now. My delema is that there is a guy with a Saleen S7 down the street and he thinks he is invincible. I'm open to any suggestions about anything. After the car is done it will be as much as your guy's car as it is mine. Thanks for any suggestions.

try slowboyracing motors, they make motors for any car, and they are a smaller company so they will work with you individually and make a wonderful product.

an 03-04 cobra crate motor and t-56 transmission with full bolt ons and a 75 shot of nitrous would have no problems making 575+RWHP.

I know that goes against the whole no power adder deal, but the motors are already built to handle that kind of power.

WOW thanks for all the quick responces guys! I like the idea of the 03-04 crate motor because I know they are very reliable and tough engines. A friend suggested this to me High Performance Ford 408/418w Stroker Engine W/500HP Aluminum Head Engine. What do you guys think of that? If you guys think its a descent motor i'll call them and find out what a good trans would be to put on there.

That is probably the worst engine i've ever seen........................LOL jk. That is an amazing find. I'll definetly check that out and let you guys know what i think. Also more great news, after begging the wife for 2 weeks and a few diamonds, I now have a $20,000 budget.

 

I thought you wanted to stay n/a? They do sell the Ford GT motor complete, but it exceeds your $ amount. If you want to stay n/a, a big block you will need.

 

have to say i agree with birdie. you have the skills so put a carb'd big block at least 514 cu in and you will have no problem getting 600hp on pump gas. move the battery to the trunk and get a k/member or make one and you will lose about 125lbs+ off the front. that will help offset the increased weight of the big block.

if not a bigblock then man-o-war world products have a few windsor style strokers that are streetable and make big block power without the weight. i think they have one that's 575hp and 450+cu.in.(small block!) i ran a 393 windsor stroker in my s/g car and had no problem making 600hp on alky with a solid lifter cam at that.

You planing on smoging this car? Getting that much power on a NA Car will be kind of difficult, smog wise.
