Default Window Tinting

Just picked up my new 2006 Mustang. Never had one and now I'm having a blast. Anyway, I'm looking to tint the windows and I have two concerns. Anyone who has there's tinted please chime in on these two issues.

1. Is there problems tinting the driver and passenger doors because the window automatically goes up and down when entering/exiting the vehicle?

2. Does the rear window have tint bubbles because of the rear window defrost?

Thanks for any input!!

From what I read the most important thing to do before tinting is to have them install the felt stips so the tint wont get scratched..

Welcome to the world of the Stang! Just my .02 on tinting...

I just had my windows done yesterday (limo tint on rear and small sides, 30% on front windows)...the shop that did the work is an EXTREMELY reputable shop, top notch work. No problems with the auto down/adjust feature, they just quick dried the bottom of the windows so the movement wouldn't affect the new tint (standard op for a good shop)

The rear shouldn't bubble, but if it ever does they offer lifetime warranty/replacement so no prob there.

I mentioned the felt issue (the inside window strip has scratched the tint on other forum members tint), the shop owner has done countless 05 stangs and hasn't encountered this issue yet, he "swore" it wouldn't be a prob (again, have lifetime warranty) I'll be installing the felt tomorrow just to be sure.

Oh yeah, know this isn't the strip thread, but just raced an 05 SRT4 from a dig to about 60mph, got a good start, his headlights were in my side mirror the whole time. At the next light he rolled his window down and said his "front tires were bald"...I told him to change 'em out and we'll do it again. Love this car!!!! (actually thought he might beat me from what i've heard)

I just had my 2006 Mustang windows tinted.
When they opened up in front doors they actuated the lock so the windows would go up. When they were through they actuated the door locks and the windows went down the standard half-inch. Living in Phoenix Arizona rear window defoggers are not used very much. But like the other fellow said your window tint should have a lifetime guarantee.

Answer Q.#1 - No problem, don't worry about it. They will know what to do, and have an easy way around it!!!!

Answer Q.#2 - depends on the tint,,..... meaning go to a reliable shop and you should not have a problem. Any high quality tint will not be effected by the defogger.

Thanks for the input guys. The company I'm taking it to does have a lifetime warranty but I did not think about the quick dry and felt strips. I had a truck I had tinted at a different shop and the tint was so wet it took a month to completely dry. I'm going to mention your points when I make my appointment this week.

Thanks again!!

Actually tinting that rear window will be noticable for you at night. I found that the view out the back was degraded a little. At night on the freeway is when I notice it most. I had just 35% legal tint installed. But it does beat factory tint if you plan on keeping your car for a long time. Ever notice how on cars the tint kinda breaks up? That's factory tint! I'm sure there's a website that explains why that happens but I see it all the time on Lexuses and other highend cars!
