Default Aluminum Drive shaft performance gain ?

There seems to be a descripency as to what performance gains this adds, one post said it added nothing to his performance, another said he gained .2 tenths in the 1/4 mile time. I don't want to start an argument so I'm won't mention names. It's alot of money for little to no gain but not bad for .2 tenths sec. Who else has added this what have you expreinced, I would add it for a .2 tenth gain and others probably would also. Maybe even a group buy could be started.

I really don't think that you'll pick up 2 tenths with just the driveshaft mod. You'll be lucky if you notice any difference at all.

It's okay to mention my name. I am the one who posted you won't see any difference. As I said in my orginal post, it is meant as a weight shaver and only works when used with a combination of other weight shavers to shave times. The drive shaft itself will shave you about 30 lbs which in no way is going to cut 2 10's off your time. The drive shaft alone as a weight saver is not worth the money.

The only reason I'm asking is spyder 7724 listed each of his mod's. and then his 1/4 mile gain, unless I'm reading it wrong he gained .2 tenths with just this mod.

You just read it wrong. Sypder is building an n/a car for drag so he has a bunch of weight shaving mods that in combination shaved him about 2 10's. It was not the drive shaft alone.

well of course you're not going to notice it when you are making over 500hp

i tested it with and without the aluminum driveshaft. my car only had a tuner at the time. it picked a a solid .2 but remember it's an auto(and basically stock at that time) and losing 30lbs. of rotating mass with only 250hp was huge for my car. i have a friend with a top/sportsman avenger who put an alum. shaft in his car. he only lost about 10lbs. it made very little change in his car due to 1000hp. he only gained .01-.02 in 60'. there is a formula for converting rotating weight savings to static weight. example..losing 10lbs. rotating mass=losing 20-25lbs of static weight. i'm not sure what the exact formula is but i'll ask bill(the avenger guy)cause he has it. if it didn't make a difference losing 30lbs. why do prostocks do it for 5lbs? and give up reliability. they change shafts every 20-25runs. every car is going to respond differently depending on whether it's a stick/auto and what mods are already done. i think it's worth doing just for the 30lb savings and how easy it is to take in and out now.
