Default My Color

I have a 2005 Convertable (non-GT). When I got it, the dealer (my cousin) told me that the My Color feature was not available due to a licensing issue with the inventor. Seemed Ford had not paid for it. My car has the Pony package which I think was supposed to have the My Color. Here is my question. Since the My Color is basically 6 different color LEDs, and the instruments glow white with the lights off and green with the lights on, is it possible that the LEDs are there and all that's missing is a control for them?

The Pony Package doesn't include MyColor. It's the IUP that does.

Yeah, my dealer told me the exact same thing when I was looking for my GT convertible. Traken is right though. Only the Interior Upgrade Package has the MyColor option. I think that the whole instrument panel is different. The interior upgrade package has 4 guages between the speedometer and the tach. Without the interior upgrade package, there are only two guages between the speedometer and tach. I'm pretty sure the speedometer, tach and the center guages are all one piece.

Yes, for the My Color you had to have the IUP option (diferrent gauge cluster). However, the Pony Package was not available on '05s.

OK Duh@me. I was half right. Here is a site that mentions the lawsuit. https://mustangforums.com/m_946438/m.../tm.htm#946438. I don't have the interior upgrade package. So no mycolor. I got the pony in April and was happy to get any convertable at all. Thanks for the info.

I heard that rumor to I also have a 2006 mustang V6 with the Pony package
the MYcolor was a $460.00 option, called the interior upgrade package.

That was probably the most inventive way of excusing not being able to get MyColor.... my dealer told me the truth, they simply didn't make enough to fill demand. Ford would never offer something they didn't have the rights too and considering it was inside Ford where MyColor came from I doubt getting rights was an issue unless of course my dealer lied as well....
