I was watching when it was auctioned..........unbelievable. I wonder how special the owner will feel when they first come across another GT500 on the road, bought by its owner for 555,000 dollars less. hmm
Still congrads on the best selling car of the show being a Mustang

Think about it, Carol Shelby has not put his name on a Stang in nearly 30 years. You want to talk about the million dollar car in the next 20 years. The first numbered Shelby, talk about hot investment. 40% return over 20 years....wish my 401k could match it. I'm thinking that the first batch of 2005's are going to be VERY hot collectables in the distant future. Consider: THE car that reignited the pony car craze. NOTHING else has had this kind of response. Last I can remember was the BMW roadster 10 years ago, but very few could afford them. And it was a specialty car. Stangs have been around for 41 years. And thank Ford for making the numbers just limited enough to keep people wanting. They totaly have created the impression of buyer demand. Great for those of us that got in on them soon in the game.

All of the $600,000 went to Carrol Shelby's children's charity. In addition, the highest bidder had to pay commission on the $600,000. The commission is 8%, which ends up being $48,000! That means that the bidder paid more in commission than the car will cost to the general public. That's crazy. It would still be cool to own the first one and get to visit the factory and see it being built. It would also be cool to meet Carrol Shelby and have him sign the car. That's a once in a lifetime opportunity. If I was crazy rich, I know I would do it.
