Default Satellite installation

Has anyone else installed a satellite receiver? Was it difficult to hide the antennae and power wires? I got a Serius receiver over the holidays and would like to avoid wires running all over the place, as well as paying someone to install.

Plastic dashes these days are nothing but snap in clips - barely any screws anymore. Just start pulling gently and work your way around the entire piece and you should be able to remove enough pieces to find all sorts of nooks and crannys to hide/route your wires through. It just takes patience and A LOT of flexbility to get upside down and below the steering column to see what your doing

Thanks for the words of encouragement SOWAX. Luckily (well, in hindsight, unfortunately) I've torn enough dashes out of enough cars to be be confident on that end. My concerns were more along getting the receiver antennae to the roof and whether the power cord is long enough to get to the outlet in the console. The former is more worrisome than the latter - I'd really like to avoid putting it on the outside of the car.

I see another thread has started along a simlar topic .. so feel free to ignore this one. My feelings won't be hurt too badly [X(]

I have installed a few of these things and usually you do not have to take the dash apart. A good place to put the antenna is right next to the passenger side window pillar right on the dash. The wire is so thin that it can usually be snaked around and hidden into the trim. Too easy.

i ran my sirius antenna behind the dash, under the console, under the backseat (1/2" showing in the gap, but covered with a matt black wire loom for looks), up the trunk sidwall, and out onto the top of the trunk just where it meets the window (right in the center underbeath the carlise glass logo). Centered, out of the way, and actually decent looking.

I ran my Sirius Satellite power wire along the side trim, through the armrest, into the outlet inside the arm rest. The antenna wire followed the power wire through the armrest, then went out the back of the armrest, under the back seat, and up into the rear deck. Here's a link to the post with a pic. No wires can be seen, and the unit itself is mounted in a decent spot.

Hey sowaxeman, I see you are from naptown. I was born and raised there. Whereabouts are you from?
