Default T.C.S. button

I have a question about the traction control system. First, I have driven RWD V8 for awhile but nothing new. Just stuck with the really old muscle. There's nothing like complete lack of control with high horse power and 30+ year old technology. So my first time driving my 05 GT I'm playing with the buttons. Was anyone else so suprised by how much the TCS pulls back on a car that can be so wild other wise.[sm=gears.gif]

Not everyone that drives a mustang is suited to do so. I think it's a beautiful option, mostly because you can turn it on/off on the fly with the push of a button.

In my very humble opinion, traction control sucks ***. So do antilock brakes.

They are good for novice drivers but I grew up and learned to drive without them so they just feel like they are interfering with my control over the car.

I think you should be able to turn off the ABS like you can with the TC. Would be nice. With a tuner, you can have the TC auto off, which eliminates the problem all together.

For the track. ABS is great when you want to stop: just stomp on the pedal. But it's less predictable when slowing to take a corner, etc. I imagine it'd be this way for many computer-controlled assists.

I think the nicest part about TCS is that we have the option of turning it off. But, when it's "on" am I surprised? Not really, I would hope that the technology could sense the slippage better and quicker than I can and reduce the tire spin accordingly.

I know ABS can be a pain but when you live in the city like I do you end up grateful for the shorter stopping distances! Even though i still can't get used to that bubbling pressure in the pedal!

ABS is not shorter stopping distance, and it engages under false conditions. If i'm comming to a moderate stop and there's a couple of bumps in the road, the ABS thinks that I'm loosing traction and engages, making the car take longer to stop. This has almost gotten me into several wrecks. I do much better just letting the damn wheels squeel.

About TCS, I like it in the rain. This car can be pretty squirly in light rain. I hate it in dry weather though. Forget to turn it off and try to have some fun and you're lunged forward as the motor shuts down. I'll have to try the auto off thing with my tuner.

Nobody is saying "over bumps you get shorter distances" ABS DOES give shorter braking distances for panic stops in MOST situations, if they didn't they wouldn't be on the car. Also since the tires are losing traction since they leave the pavement on some bumps the condition isn't false, just not optimum. While I agree there are times I hate them (as mentioned over bumps) there have been a few times when some **** pulled out in front of me and if it wasn't for ABS I'd have hit him and I didn't.
