RE: StandStill Burnout
Hey, welcome to the site.
As on my boating site, questions like these are sometimes overlooked by the experienced drivers, so I'll put in my $.02
Turn off the TCS. W/the 5-spd, I'd run revs to about 3500, take 1/2 half the clutch out as you are and then NAIL it. Make sure both of your hands are on the wheel, she's going in a straight line and your on the right road.. then hit the shifts at redline if you want to keep it up.
W/the auto, well it's close..
Also. save a few bucks for new tires.

RE: StandStill Burnout
i used to do burnouts on a 4 speed stick pickup its easy left foot on cltuch and right foot well right foot is another storry for a safe burnout .... just 50% or the left side on ur right foot on the brake and the other 50 % on the accelerator just tilt your feet so you can reach both.... and the next thing u do just let go of clutch slowly ... and imdediatly left foot on brake so it will be easier to play with the accelerator ....thats for the stand still burnouts but if u want the take of burnouts just hit the gass and let go of the clutch make sure ur tcs is OFF

I dump the clutch with some revs on the motor and step on the brake until the car stops moving forward, then I modulate the accelerator pedal until Im satisfied with the burnout....

and if your an auto, make sure you manually pull the car down to first gear and just stomp on the break and gas, then when you take off push it into second and wait, should chirp it, then go back to D when you let off

RE: StandStill Burnout
is it bad to do this with an auto? example: turn off TCS, turn off O/D, push break.... rev up to about 3000 (i forget the spin point) and let the tires spin Is this bad?, considering i have an auto.

(is it bad to do this with an auto?)
It is bad to do it with any car. We do it anyway because it can be fun. Transmissions can handle it. Just not 2-3-4 times a day. What really gets abused is the rear brakes that are trying to hold the tires that you want to spin. Drag racers have used a line lock to stop rear brake function while heating the tires for launch. "Remember" We do it for fun. Street tires get little benifit from burn outs.[sm=badidea.gif]

the correct way on a stick is to do heal-tow work
