Default Question about traction control...

Still feeling out my new '06 GT, its been raining most of the day, so I figured its a good time to try out the traction control with out beating it too hard. So I punch it in first gear and the rpm's just zing up, quickly enough that I thought I might redline it, so I hit second, but drive it normally from that point on. But at no point did the traction control intervine. I did a system diagnostic, and everything checks out, so whats up with it?

Default RE: Question about traction control...

The traction control is supposed you to spin up the tires with the tc on, if the conditions are right. It somehow determines if the conditions are wet and then will make the traction control active. If the traction control is on and it determines that the conditions of the road are dry, then it will allow you to spin the tires somewhat. It could be that your computer didn't have time to determine that the conditions of the road were wet and just allowed the tires to spin. It's kind of hard to explain, but I read about in the 2005 mustang brochure from the dealer. I couldn't find it in the 2006 brochure.

Here it is.

mine kicked on once- the onboard computer dinged and said traction control active or something along those lines- about the only thing it did was cut my RPM's down enough to stop the spin on and off and on and off... but it works!
