question about the remote.
When I press the remote once to lock the doors the doors lock, and the lights flash once. If I press it again the horn honks. What does the 2nd click do? And what does the horn honk mean? Sorry about this question, but I couldnt find anything about it in the manual.
Thanks.
Thanks.
1st click, lock the doors - 2nd click, sets the alarm. Horn will sound if car is opened without being disarmed. If the horn beeps twice on second click, then a door is ajar or open.
I just talked with my dealer, he told me that the 2nd click just verifies that the doors have locked - 1 honk ok, 2 honks - door ajar. Nothing to do with an alarm system, since I didnt purchase the security system/alarm option. Can anybody confirm that this is correct?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Hmmm.. News to me. I set mine of one time by reaching through the half open window, unlocking it and opened the door. Horn went off. Maybe I got an option I did not pay for??
The horn honk is just to verify that all is closed properly. If you set off the car by reaching through the window you have the active alarm with motion sensors and level detectors (anti tow)
Ghost - I think he was saying that he opened the door thru a 1/2 open window, not that the alarm recognized his motion which would be the anti tow option. Maybe there are 2 types of alarms, a standard alarm that goes off when a door is opened (with the alarm set), and an upgraded/optional system that does motion sensing...etc. Is this correct?
Yes, re-read and I see what you are saying. There are actually three alarm options. Passive, which is standard and sounds if a door or the trunk is opened without the key or remote to unlock it. Active, which adds motion sensors and anti tow sensors. And active/upgrade which requires an electronic key FOB to be within 3ft before the car will start (not the standard electronic key)
Ghost - I understand what you are saying, about the 3 alarm options. However I just went out to my car - and with the doors locked, I reached thru an open window and opened my door - no alarm. Which sounds like what my salesperson has told me that I do NOT have any type of alarm on my 06 Mustang. However you are saying that all mustangs have a 'passive' alarm as a standard feature which should sound if a door is opened without using the key. So now I am still confused.
Can any others help explain this, I have an 06 V6 with no security system upgrade or option purchased. Should an alarm sound if the door is opened without using a key? If so, what I am doing wrong?
Thanks a lot.
