there are also a few holes behind the emblem...if you remove it your gonna need to soend some money with the body man or by a trim panel.

Other threads out there on this. Fishing line, hairdryer (no heat gun!). ...two small holes. I assume if you get that welded up, you'll do the lock as well since that section will need new color coat and clear anyway. I did, few folks have; looks sssooooooo clean. IMO

i don't know why you would even take the emblem off... no average car in the road would even think of messing with a GT stamped 'stang. I think the GT makes the car much more exlusive and exciting.. afterall it IS a GT lol.. i'm probably just being silly LOL but I'm the kinda guy that would definitely go overboard in terms of differentiating my ride from a V6 especially if i spent the extra money.. point is i want everyone to know im driving a GT.. its undefined power in teh palm of your hands.. or better yet feet

other than that, i would definitely be interested in seeing what you're going to come up with.. im sure its gonna look very hott
but if you don't think the way i do then by all means, more power to you.. good luck

Believe me, no one thinks my 'flamed out' stang is a V6. All you need to see from the rear is the pipes and the stance. (Plus who's gonna trick out the decklid of a V6 anyway?) And if you can hear it, you'll know it's a GT. I couldn't have fender GT emblems floating in my flame work or the ugly antenna for that matter. Car needed a "clean canvas" for the art work. It's just me but I hate clutter and I hate fake stuff like the imitation gas cap on the rear deck. You have to get up close to see if the emblem is V6 or GT; by then you've already seen (and maybe heard) the exhaust. In fact some guys have swapped the pony rear emblem for the GT one cause they like it better and in some cases it matches their wheels centercap. If I didn't go flames I was definitely still shaving everything I did. You may not have been around, back in the day, but insignias were small and few, no fake stuff, and folks still were removing them partly so others wouldn't know there was muscle there. ...the ole sleeper treatment. ...you get the idea. But to each his own. I've see a few with the deckild done but I wouldn't be dissapointed if no one else elected to do so. (I'd be delighted (lol)). Have fun with whatever you do... but do somethin to personalize your ride; and enjoy!!!!

No I understand where you are coming from. Everyone has different ideas, tastes, etc. it makes this new generation of Mustang the most fun yet. You don't see owners of any other vehicle today being this creative, personalizing their cars, sharing ideas, opinions, tech help and more. It's just incredibly fun; oh and driving this beast is a blast too.

Sure, I'll have more pics soon. Enjoy your ride!!! ...Jim

Any ideas on where to purchase the pony decklid badge? Was thinking of changing my GT one out for it?

yes, there's adhesive, and 2 holes, there's also the keyhole, which stands out like a sore thumb if you take the emlem off... I got everything filled in.

as for people not knowing it's a GT, I don't care, let them find out how fast it is the hard way after I beat them.. my exhaust is really loud, though, so they'll know either way [:'(]
