Default Alarm systems

Does anybody know when I can get the Ford alarm system for the mustang gt? I want the one with the anti-tow and the ultrasonic motion sensors. When I bought the mustang, the dealer told me it would cost almost $800 to install a system. I'm pretty mechanically inclined, so I figured that I could just install it myself. I searched the mustang accessories on Ford's website, but I'm not sure what features the systems include. Has anybody installed one of these systems by themselves? Was it difficult?

You would probably get a better deal buying a cobra alarm or some aftermarket system.

my dealer actually said they choose not to install the stock ford alarm system because it's not as secure as the one they put in. i assume this could be total BS, but the alarm they put on instead of the ford alarm, changes the frequency that your remote sends to the car every single time you press the button. that way someone with a frequency scanner can't come up to your car and unlock it. other than that, it's probably basically the same alarm system. and the best part was, it didn't cost extra - which leads me to believe what he was telling me wasn't full of too much BS since he didn't charge extra for it.

the name of my alarm system is "ultra guard" in case you're interested. seems like a decent alarm system, although it doesn't have the ultrasonic motion sensors etc. it's really nothing special.

edit - nothing special, although i read that you can program some features to the remote like auto start, etc. there it is, for what it's worth.

BlackB.. that 'stang would look insane with yellow stripes.. thats my goal when i get my 'stang.. just a thought if you're thinkin of any cool exterior accessories.. as for the alarm systems.. never go with the ones ford offers... you can get much more sophisticated systems even with LCD remotes for less.. do your research before getting seriuosly ripped-off.. im not trying to insult ford.. but afterall thats true with any dealership

haha, good post...

you don't think a black stang with yellow stripes would look like a bumble bee? i was thinking of going with something a little more low key - say charcoal stripes...

anyway, if you stripe your black stang with yellow stripes, POST PICS! i have yet to see a stang with that color combo.
