Default 5 speed ****

I wanted to get the "ball" style shift **** that came with the 401A interior package, but I didn't want to get into replacing the boot. So, I ordered this one, and it came today. I looks great, especially for the cost.

Just a recommendation to those that care . . .

I'd like one too, and the OEM version is sweet (AJ's write-up: • Installing a 401a ****/boot •) -- but the price is a bit more than I want to spend at the moment.

Maybe a picture or two if you get a chance. Yeah, I saw it on the website, but I'd like to see a broader picture.

Okay, I need to set up a photo account anyway. Give me a day or so.

I actually think this one looks better than the 401A OEM ball shift **** . . . and it's only $30

You can always order a boot from redline goods. The pattern is from my car.

That does look much better than the stock plastic ones, like I have.

The Rousch short throw shifter is on my list of mods so I will live with it for a while.

Looks good. I don't know why the 401A **** is so expensive. I think the MSRP is around $130. I got lucky with a used one.

FWIW, that silver ball **** in the 401A package came in my car and it looks great fro the first few days. I have had the car for three weeks now and about a week of that time was it in the shop for stripes. So in the two weeks of very moderate driving i have had the car the shift **** already has scratches on it. I am looking fro a replacement that is more durable. I don't recommend the factory ****. I found a guy from another thread around here that can do me a grabber blue one with black racing stripes! $75 for a custom **** that is all resin so it shoudl hold up fine.

It's either steel or billet aluminum, how is it getting scratched by your hands? It's quite heavy so I assume steel.

My first time using Photobucket. Let's see if this works:

FYI, the **** makes the entire shifter about 1/2" higher. My only beef is the 5-speed pattern engraved on the top is slightly off -- it shows that reverse is further to the right than 5th gear, which isn't the case on these cars.

Nonetheless, I think it looks as good as the 401A, if not better. And, again, it was $30 plus shipping.

Thanks for the pics Cid ...

I think they both look nice; I've just spent more than my initial allotment of "mod" funds to swap out for OEM parts, and AJ always swipes up great deals.

Yeah, the "R" is slightly off, but never really looking at the **** anyway makes it a non-issue.

For those interested, a 15% off coupon code is floating around on Google for this site at the moment.
