I agree. If that is the case and you just want a trunk that is flush and follows the lights, then get some metal, grind down the paint right below the 3rd brake light, and start trying to fit the metal how you want it and when you like it tack it up. Tough part would be bracing the back of it and getting the right curve to it, if it needs a curve.
It has two curves, actually. Left-to-right and top-to-bottom. It will be a fun afternoon for a customer of mine to play with. It's easier to trade signs for labor as both parties tend to strive for better quality that way.

Oh ya, I agree. With 2 curves that might be a bitch to fit, but if they do good bodywork it will look awesome when it is done.
