Default Grille install

If anyone ahs installed a new billet grille, please join in.

The problem I have is the directions on AM and that were included are different. AM says to remove the old grille, while the directions included in the package say to install voer the old grille. If anyone could tell me which way they isntalled theirs and why, I would greatly appreciate your input.

depends on what you bought...Did you buy an overlay (as far as I know thats all thats avail for the '10s atm)? Post a link to the one you bought on AM plz.

Look at the grille....If it takes mounting screws in the center (off to the right I believe) and a couple on top/side/bottom and has no tabs around the outer back of it it's an overlay. If you bought one without the pony cut out, you're gonna have to cut the pony out of your stock grille for it to fit/look right. I cut out the entire center of mine for airflow, just leaving enough where screws mount the overlay..

Here's mine...Top and bottom, both are overlays.

Yeah it's an overlay. I have the Stack Racing grilles also. If you got one with the pony delete, you need to take out the grille when you cut out the pony. It's just a few tabs holding it in. Otherwise you'll cut the back grille support piece as well.

If you got the one with the pony cut out you can just slap it right over and screw it on. (This is all assuming you have the single pony grille, not the pony pckg grille)

ok cool, I will probably put these up for sale then. I really do not want to permanently alter the car, in lieu I get a better job out of school and trade this in for a 2011 gt. I appreciate your help though

not all the stack racing grills are overlays. the one i had on my 05 was the fog delete version and you have to remove teh factory grill. i will say this, the hardware stack racing offers sucks donkey *****. Teh heads of the scres they provide were so small they pulled through the holes they were supposed to go it. Bo yourself a favor and go get washers and new screws before you even start.

This is the one where you have to remove the emblem. In the package it says to cut the emblem out and then install the grille. HEre's the link to the other directions I found:

Yep, it's the exact ones I have..But don't get discouraged by having to cut it out. It's really simple and if you ever wanted to put it back to the stock grille, they're very cheap...Also having the overlay isn't going to hurt the trade value from a dealer. They can easily toss a stock grille back on it.

@Shane- Yeah but for the 10 v6's, so far the overlays seem to be the only option out there...Although I remember some vendor posting here saying they had the '10 GT center fog grilles avail as well as v6 full replacement...But I can't find the damn thread lol. May have been Street Scene..Can't remember.

Edit..It was Stillen, they have a kit w/center fogs, they say at the bottom for v6 too... http://www.stillen.com/product.asp?i...&model=MUSTANG

They don't have pics of the v6 version though...I'd like to see it first..
