Default 2010 Headlight Assembly

Hey folks! Does anyone know if the plastic cover can be separated from the actual headlight assembly without comprimising its functionality? I want to paint the chrome trim behind the plastic shield (not the headlight itself).

Any thoughts or ideas will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

you..it should be like any other headlight..I did it on my old truck it was all chrome inside and I blacked it out..take it out..put it in the oven for about 15min at around 250 take it out and slowly pry it apart. that should be enough to loosen up the glue. just make sure you dont get any long stingy stuff anywhere or it will be a mess and pretty much cant get it off. then just reheat it again same way basically to get the glue sticky again and also add a bead of silicone in there as well. If the light doesnt come apart fully first time it might take a few tries in the oven to get it fully warmed up..just gotta be careful its not enough to warp any of the plastic or melt it..ohhh and put on on a piece of cardboard in there as well.
here is my old truck and the headlight..everything thats black in there was chrome

Thanks for the write up and instructions. Sounds like this is one mod you simply need to committ to; take your time and enjoy results after! I'll post before and after pics; hopefully tomorrow! Thanks again!

Please keep us updated. I'm not crazy about the look of the silver bezel in the HID setup and would like to see it matte black.
