Default how to polish stock 2011 rims

I hope this is the correct section to post this on:

How can I go about polish my stock aluminum rims on my 2011 V6? I purchased Mothers Aluminum PowerMetal polish, would that be okay to use on my rims?

These are my rims incase you don't know what they look like.

Thanks you.

why do you want to polish them..are the scratched at all. I would bet they are clear coated. You can wax them with regular wax or get some good wheel wax like poorBoys

I wanted to polish them just to get them a little extra glossy. Hmmm, could I use Meguiars Quik Detailer on them? Or would Black Magic wheel cleaner do the job?

those will just clean them off if they are dirty..if you look at the wheel does it look like its clear coated or can you tell if some of those flat spots is machined metal..I will bet 99% its cleared so waxing them will make them look better and help protect them..but regular wax wont last long as its not really made for the heat wheels can get from the brakes. I use this stuff

Yes, I am sure they are clear coated, atleast they appear to be. Thank you, I will look into the poorboys product.

The poorboys is nice stuff. but you can just wax them with the wax you normally use but will just have to apply it more often because it will break down faster

Well, I spend every weekend detailing my car, so I don't see having to wax the wheels often as a problem. I guess I will try waxing the rims and see how that turns out and if it does not do the job I will be a poorboys customer. Will regular TurtleWax liquid form wax work on the rims?

any wax will work..but turtle wax in general blows..LOL
I would get some meguiars, or Mothers wax if I was buying from a local store. if you really get into it look around at autogeek. it gets addicting. I use Wolfgang Fuzion on my car, but that P21S is really good stuff for a good bit cheaper. Plus these higher end waxes will not stain your trim and plastic mouldings should you accidently get some on them.

Thanks for the help man, you kept me from fckn up my rims...

I figured TurtleWax blowed, but I only bought it for household uses like waxing the sinks and shower walls, etc. I will head over to the store and get some real car wax tomorrow though.

Thanks again!
