Default Pony Emblem Color?

I have a 2010 GT Premium Vert. Some one posted that the Grill Pony is Black Chrome, to me it looks like a Gloss Black laquer. Is Black Chrome really that dark? I thought it was more a smoked look than actually black, I'm concerned because I'd like get darker wheels but not black. Anybody know or have experience with black chrome?

There's two different shades as far as the ponies on the grill go. Ford lightened up the black chrome a couple shades for 2011. It was pretty dark for 2010. If your buying black chrome rims, my suggestion is to get a good, non promotional picture. I like to see what a rim looks like on someones car in real life beforehand. The pictures of rims on websites that sell them don't always convey the "real" color to me.

Excellent point Xcelsius, my concerns exactly. Love to see things in person first. Thanks for the pony info too, I didn't know they lightened it in 2011. Just doesn't shine like chrome when it's as dark as it is in 2010.
