Default Scratches...

About a week ago I woke up to find the gate to my backyard ajar and scratches on the lip of decklid and passenger side quarterpanel. One scratch goes almost from one side to the other on the decklid; and random shape like & or a treble clef. Cant figure out how to post pics, sorry.

Any suggestions?

Are they just clearcoat scratches?

If you can't feel the scratches with your fingernail than they should wet-sand/buff out. If you can feel them, most likely, it will need painted.

Try a buffer and some quality polish. I'm a big fan of Adams products you will be very impressed at what you can buff out.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try Adams.

I could sort of hang my nail, but I'm gonna try buffing first. Any estimate on painting cost? How big of an area would need to be painted?

I uploaded pics to photobucket; pics are from my phone. Not the greatest quality.

my daughter hit the side of my car with her scooter and left a scratch about 3 inches long on my door. the scratch got below the clear, but you can hardly tel its there most of the time.

Similar thing happened to me, by me. I was pushing the lawn mower with my left hand and drinking a beer with my right; while trying to negotiate around a crepe myrtle. I put a small scratch right behind the drivers door. I left it as a reminder to take more care around the car. Ive since taken to parking at the park across the street when I mow.

Looks interesting, I'll try that if Adams polish and a good buffing doesnt work.

yes I have Dr colorchip..and it works very well if its a big enough scratch for it to bite. I also had a rock chip that was down to the metal and it was a fairly big rock chip and was deep..it did not fill the entire chip but its much harder to spot it now and no messy blob left behind

pics are to hard to see, I was trying to remove my spoiler a while back and my microfiber I was using as a guide under the knife got stuck and didnt stay with it..causing this to happen.

needless to say I was REALLY REALLY pissed..Dr Colorchip would not work on it because it didnt have enough to bite to stay once you use the solution to clean off the excess. I ended up buffing it out with my Flex 3401 buffer and some Menzerna Power finish and its probably 80% gone..its still there but I blended it in enough that its not very easy to see.
