Default Really Dumb question

I want to say I know the answer to this and you can tell me if I'm wrong or not.

What is the difference between a 2010+ model with a "GT" badge vs a 2011+ with a 5.0 badge? Any hp difference or is the 5.0 badge just on premium models? I know this is a stupid question, but I wasn't able to find anything online regarding this. Thanks.

They're both GTs. The difference between them is that the 2010 model is a 4.6L engine and the 2011 is 5.0L, hence the 5.0 badging. 5.0 has 412hp at the crank.

Yeah, pretty much what Mr. Bape said. 2010 GTs have a GT badge and 2011+ GTs have a 5.0 badge. 2010=315 HP 4.6L engine, 2011+=412 HP 5.0L engine. You'll also notice small differences if you pay close attention. The 2010 GT has a plain looking rear diffuser, just like the one you now see on V6 Mustangs, where as the 5.0s have a more aggressive looking one. And if the windows aren't tinted, you'll see that the 2011+ Mustangs have head rests on the rear seats, where as the 2010s don't. Other than that, they're practically the same.

Thanks so much. Is there a 2011 4.6 GT? Or is it just the 2011 GT 5.0.

4.6L V8s came with the 2010 GT, for 2011 ford upgraded to the 5.0L V8, you wont find a 2011 4.6 GT unless you swapped out the engine yourself.

in a nutshell, 5.0GT>4.6GT

I appreciate you guys! The other day a 2010 model "GT" was reving his engine at the light. I'm not really one for a pissing match but figured I shouldn't compete because we are basically the same car. Now that I know differently, maybe I'll go for it next time. I should be getting some good pics of my car soon after my new wheels and tires come in. Having such a hard time deciding on which tires to get. I live in ATL so mild winters. I was thinking of going with Hankook V12 or Nitto NT555. Thoughts?

Both are real good tires, but i like the Hankook V12 better, for the rain.
