Bondo for Window Louvers install?
Hey guys,
I recently ordered some window louvers from AmericanMuscle for my 2010 gt. I installed them to find that part of the louver does not like to stick to the car and it pops up to form about a 1/4" gap between the louver and the body. I was wondering what kind of adhesive I could put in between the gap to try to make it stick better. Would bondo ruin the paint? I don't want to have to take them completely off (I already have once, it is a pain).
Thanks for your help!

bondo would ruin the paint as you would have to sand down and paint and it would be a permanent thing that a body shop would need to perform. why not just get some Double sided tape and just place it on there and that will solve your problem.

SpektrSVT,
I apologize for the inconvenience you're experiencing with your louvers. It sound's like there may have been something left on the surface before installing the louvers, causing the tape not to hold a tight bond. Make sure there is no dirt, wax ect.. on the paint & then apply the louvers with some extra 3M tape & your louvers should stick just fine!
I hope this helps, Let me know how this works out. Hit me up if you have any further questions!

There is also an adhesive promoter that works great. After cleaning with alcohol wipe on the promoter let dry then use 3m trim tape. After the part is secure use alcohol to remove access promoter. Both are available from auto-body paint supply stores.

I just bought a pair as well from AM, got them unpainted. Had a friend of my who does body work professionally paint them. Not sure if its the material but the first time he painted them, it came out with a yellow shade. They were painted white. So he put another coat on, doesnt look to bad now. Havent installed yet but heard they can be a pain. Hope it works out for you SpektrSVT.
