Default Another 2010-12 V6 Fog Light Question

So I installed a "put-together" kit for the lower bumper foglights, which is "factory" except for the wiring harness.

The wiring for the new lights is just a cheapo harness with the wiring, relay, and a stick-on-dash on/off switch which I have mounted next to the light switch on the left side of the dash.

https://mustangforums.com/forum/2010...foglights.html

I would like to finish this off with a factory light switch which controls the foglights. In addition, I understand installing this switch alone will give me the auto-headlamp feature that I don't currently have.

So the question is this... Can I cut off the stick-on dash switch I currently have -- and somehow connect the wire to the new OEM switch -- or does it need a special connector? Also, will just changing the switch give me the autolamp feature?

Thanks for any advice/help.

You need to cut/splice into your harness behind the switch in the dash.

Thanks, that makes sense. Now I just have to figure out what lines in the wiring harness to splice the switch wires into.

The OEM headlight switch grounds the wire that turns on the fogs.
This normally goes to the SJB which in turn powers the
fog light relay in the BEC under the hood.
And grounds the headlight wire to turn OFF the headlights.
No switch plugged in and the headlights come on.
Safety feature so if the switch quits working, the default
for the SJB is to turn the headlights ON.
It is basically like this but the wire colors have changed...
Your current stick it on switch probably sources
(or provides 12 volts) the fog light relays coil.
You will need to rewire the coil on the relay so it works
when it is sinked (or grounded) by the new headlight switch
not sourced like the stick on switch probably is..

I did this with an 07 S197 and used the GT headlight switch with the fog light option.

The auto-headlights are programmed into the SJB so a new switch
with the fog light option will not enable auto headlights.
