Thanks for the great advice! Not interested in padding Ford's stockholder's pockets with gold, but I'm goin with the foreign made manual tranny and hopin for the best. Hopefully it's got some solid engineering behind it. Was going to order today but will tomorrow. Grabber blue, premium 6+6 manual, 3.73 rear end, 201A pkg.
Got an awesome deal with my discount, rebate and incredible trade-in price. It was super funny. Didn't even plan on buying from this place. They used all the old tricks including, giving me rock bottom trade in price to start, salesman then discussing the deal with the manager for an eternity, then the salesman telling me he is going to war for me and they all get into a huddle and start arguing. Then all three coming at me asking what it would take to buy the car. They in the end accepted my terms. CLASSIC STUFF! Nice guys to deal with all said and done.
Please tell me the domestic cars have improved. I will be sorely disappointed if my new baby blue grabber is in the shop being man-handled by all the grease monkey's. I'm really looking forward to this car. Feel like a kid again. Can't wait to go to next years Dream Cruise on Woodward. Might even snub my nose at the pigs and touch off a little rubber for the onlookers.

If you think you're going to sell the car later on it's almost always better to buy the automatic. They tend to have a better resale value than a stick. However, my personal preference especially in a sporty car is a manual. I think it's more fun to drive and I feel more connected and in control.

Tigercrazy....chose the 3:31 lower gear ratio for the "more-fun" factor. A tiny bit quicker off the line than the 2:73 gears. And, the 6 cyl does not have as much torque as it's big brother V8 and develops more horsepower at higher RPM's. I figured the 3:31gears should help with that and it shouldn't drag down the mileage too awfully bad.
As far as re-sale, my experience has been it makes no difference on a trade. Their going to shove it up the bunghole sideways, no matter what options the car has. Selling a car is a royal PITA. They know that. That's why so many people now lease. I'm "buying" this car as my tribute to the end of American Muscle as we know and love it,and will keep it forever unless it's a lemon.. I can't imagine getting all revved up by the new Volt. That car is going to be a disaster for GM (offering the same car in gas that gets 40 mpg at half the price). How freakin stupid do they think we are!
