Default radar detectors---always drive safely

Okay, now that I got my 3.73's in and a tune, it is hard to not sometimes when it is safe, to want to nail it. You all know what I mean. So yesterday I was at a light. It was red. Then it turned green. I look, no cars running redlights crossing my path. Coast is clear. Cars that were to my right cross traffic waiting to turn right. So, all it safe. I decide to have a little fun and so I take off a few feet then nail it. Traction control off, stability control off, tires chirpping, car goes , tranny shifts, tires chirpping again. But as I cross and am going, I catch out the corner of my eye a cop car on my right cross traffic. Fortunately two cars in front of him waiting to turn right. So as I go down the street, I turn left onto a street then right and left and so on. I know but hey we all do it.

Anyway, having been a cop myself years past, I knew I was okay. Never got over 50 and speed limit was 45.

So, with all the cops, cameras , radar and such out there it will be just a matter of time and I will get caught.

Read an article where Arizona has lowered sections of the highway from 65 to 55 and posted cameras and ticketing people going 10 mph over the speed limit. Article further stated engineering studies have shown it should be 70 to 75 posted limit. State is hoping on $100 million revenue from this.

So thinking of getting the Escort 9500 ix.

Question, do any of you have a radar dectector and do you recommed one?

I have had the 9500ix for two years. It has saved me quite a few times. The range on it is excellent. The laser detection is really good if the cop is keeping the laser on. Otherwise, it only lets you know you're busted on the laser. There's still lots of K and Ka band around here. The red light camera feature is great, too. If you don't get the 9500ix, get the Valentine V1. Both are the only ones worth the money.

I've been told that running your headlights on reduces the range on the laser units.
