Default v6 to v8

hi i have an 2011 v6 mustang i regret a bit my choice on the v6 because i heard there wasnt alot of performance mods for it. I was wondering if it was possible to do a swap to v8. Any suggestion welcome.

Thanks,

Sell V6. Buy V8. Swap complete.

You can't simply drop a 5.0 into a V6. It also requires electronic, suspension and driveline changes. By the time your done... well, trading for the GT is your best bet.

I'm sure, in time, there will be more performance mods available for the 3.7 V6.

Thanks,
Hello my fellow quebecer! Note that you already have 305hp. If you're hungry for more just check out the americanmuscle website for example and you will see there are plenty of mods already. I'm personally impressed at all the available mods anywhere for this engine considering how new it is.

Here are some examples of available mods:

-Axle Back exhaust
-Cat Back exhaust systems
-X-tubes(exhaust component)
-Headers
-Cold air intakes
-Hand Held tuners with custom tunes, Prebuilt tunes specifically for your engine(87 91 and 93 octane all with either street, performance or race flavours) as well as the opportunity to get free custom tunes for life(Courtesy of American Muscle)
-You can pretty much grab the suspension, brake and wheel/tire components of a GT or even a GT500 and bolt it right on. And i'm sure there are aftermarket parts available.
-More agressive rear end gearing ratios are available en masse and in many different ratios which will really liven up the car from what many here have experienced(Think 3.73, 4.10 and even 4.55:1). As well as making a night and day difference, they are really inexpensive.
-Procharger has a supercharger kit that was recently released that promises up to 493HP by itself(502 with a high flow "cone" filter). You can apparently install it yourself fairly easely and quickly too.
-I also believe some people have already turbocharged their 3.7s also.

Honestly, I don't know who said there weren't a lot of performance mods for the new Mustang V6. But apparently, that person never bothered checking forums, or check anything at all. I'm personally surprised at the tremendous ammount of aftermarket support for a new car with a brand new engine that has only been on the market for one year. All from reputable suppliers too. Even now, the oldsmobile alero, a 10 year old car, doesn't even have as much aftermarket variety available and the stuff that is there is pretty much garage made by some independant no-names with little to no reputation. I'd say you've struck gold with your V6 stang!

........And when ProCharger came out with their product for the V6....that about puts top on the cake....cause everything else is there pretty much....now all that's left are internal parts, cams ect, ect...but most likely already out there somewhere...

Thanks,
The "i heard" part of your post indicates you did not do your own research on the topic. You heard wrong. The other responders have listed many mods available and there will be many more. This is Mustang you are talking about.

This forum is, and will be a huge source of information for you if you keep the v6`er. Do a lot of searchs, read and ask questions and the truth will be revealed.

Agreed with you sir, this forum is a good source of info. Damn I have to refrain from reading it every day cuz it just makes me more anxious for the arrival of my Mustang V6(ETA now sometime in April T_T). Lets not forget how I also try avoiding it because it gives me the urge to spend lots and lots of money upgrading the stang when I get it. Must, resist, the urge.

Honestly though, get a procharger with the aftermarket intake, do a complete xhaust overhaul and add a proper tune on top of that and I'm predicting 550 crank HP no problem. Once the reinforced internals start becoming available, just swap the supercharger pulley to add more boost and get it re-tuned and I say 700hp won't be out of reach. Just throwing numbers out though.

I would have agreed with you 6-9 months ago, but I have found just about anything I would want from suspension to HP upgrades have now come to market. There are 3-4 CAIs available, a whole bunch of axle backs, a number of x-pipes, catbacks etc, and one supercharger, with more to follow.

the parts are there, and a lot of them are cheaper than the v8 equivalent. making the v6 a fun choice to mod.
