Say it ain't so Dearborn!
Just got my car! 2013 Coupe Premium, V6 Performance Package, Deep Impact Blue / Saddle Interior, etc. Spend the last 3 days waxing and polishing it, so it has a whopping 17 miles on it. Pics to come when I get a chance - Woot!
Then I get to detailing under the hood and I find...ah, yes! Aluminum head and block...forged crank, connecting rods, and pistons pushing out 3.7L of glorious displacement...a 4 valve / cylinder, DAMB, 7000 RPM lovely of an engine connected to...what's this?
Cast iron POS headers?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Were the design engineers or when this part of the job came up?! For crying out loud at least make them in cast aluminum! And don't throw the accountants under the bus this time...cast aluminum and cast iron are very similar in cost for that kind of quantity. There's only two technical reasons I can think of for going with cast iron, and they're both lame.
In the mean time, does anyone other than BBK make headers for this engine yet? Looks like that will be one of the first performance mods on the list.
