I agree that the manufactures claims are something to be skeptical of. I did about as much home work on the subject as I could stand. Most of the people who commented on the Accell coils were GT owners. I did not find any before or after dyno results for the 3.7L.

It does seem as though people were very pleased if they had done a Tune before the new coils and less impressed if they had not. No big surprise that having better programming and a CAI improves performance with additional mods, right?

Once again this is one of these things were there is not a lot to go on but this mod does make sense intuitively so there is nothing left to do but try it. Now I am not going to spend the money for a dyno but if I don't notice an improvement in mpg and power I will send them back.

Here is how I looked at it, I order the set from Titan for $305 delivered. Like I said earlier changing out coils is simple and quick and no additional tuning required. So lets look at some numbers. Let just assume for the sake of discussion we are starting with 310 hp. (Minimal for CAI and Tune/91)

310hp x 5% = 15.5hp, $305/15.5hp = $20 per HP

310hp x 10% = 31hp, $305/31hp = $9.84 per HP

310hp x 15% = 46.5hp, $305/46.5hp = $6.56 per HP

If the coils netted a mere 5hp then it comes out to $61 per HP, to me that is still worth it.
If you spend $700 on a Driveshaft and it frees up 10hp that is $70 per HP and worth it to me as well.

Most of the time when people talk about HP the Torque values are lost along the way which is kind of a shame because that is more important to me. In addition they are usually talking about values that are averaged through out along most if not all of the RPM range. That video for the Dynomax Exhaust made note of something that is worth remembering, although the HP and ft/#s averaged +10 each across the RPM range at 3500 RPM the Torque gain was 30 ft/#s at the rear wheels, now that is power you can use everyday, as in my case where my car is a daily driver. That exhaust kit is about $350 online and $479 at autozone, you can put your own value on that.

So I saw potential for well priced power/ gas economy in the coils and I drive about 500 miles a week, I will spare you all the numbers but lets say I saved 1 gallon a week with the new coils, $4.39 x 52 weeks = $228.28 a year. That means the coils pay for themselves in 1.06 years.

Only time will tell, the coils have not even been delivered yet. What we all want out of our mods varies some, the way are cars are set up varies, our habits varies our climates vary. road conditions, traffic etc.. so in the end somethings you just have to try.

I was in Mojove this past week end cruising at 100 mph and only turning about 2250 rmps and I was thinking wow what wonderful thing! I did not push it over 125 because of my DS and tires but maybe next year I will have all that swapped out? I would spend the extra $305 just for one afternoon in El Mirage.

They are advertised as....... "10-15% more energy than OEM coils"

Energy here means more VOLTAGE, not horsepower.

BTW, I just saw them on Summit Racing for $199.

I have to imagine there are not too many other N/A mods you can do. are there any decent cam options for the v6?
No v8 love my 3.7L V6 it's stout enough so far and my wife said no new car for me anymore unless you total the car lol. 5k plus for a pro charger or turbo to rich for my blood unless I can get it used....

Have you removed the top speed limiter?
Btw, with 3:31s you can hit 162 in 5th if you have the power and no limiter.
Yes I removed the limiter but I do need to work on brakes and suspension the car did shock me at 135mph on I10 not on purpose though but I did not know I was at that speed until I seen my speedometer then slow the hell down car handle outstanding !

If you're driving in Germany at high speeds, might help to ask the Tech savvy guy at your dealer or whatever shop to go to about Oil flow at continuous high speeds.
When Ford first introduced the 5.0 to Germany in 89 they knew high speed driving would destroy the motor without some help. They added duel oil filters, high speed pumps and an oil cooler.

The Boss has all manner of oils flow enhancements some may be adaptable to your V6 like the high speed pump. It's one thing to consider.

If I went back again, I'd have to wear my 5 points. It's the wild East.

I just put on my BBk 73mm t-body and I do feel a stronger pull in the 2500-3250 range! I would say about 11 or 12 RWHP! I would highly advise this mod. When you get long tubes (which I don't have) is when you will really start to feel it.

Four or five of the fastest 3.7s have ported manifolds.

Has anyone looked into the options that Super Six Motorsports is offering on their website for the 3.7? They are selling ported upper and lower intake manifolds, 3.7L-4.0L stroker kit(with option for 9.5:1,10.5:1,11.0:1 compression pistons), ported heads, cams(2 options with .005 decreased intake lift and either 0.020 or 0.040 increased exhasust lift), stronger valve springs(might make higher rpms possible).

Lone Wolf is the way cheaper option with just as good or better result IMO. All the fastest 3.7s use him, not super six. I mean it's your money though lol. I paid $350 with my supplied manifolds. It costs $500 for the same thing from super six. Plus I know lone wolf is having a sale this month, so it's even lower than $350. I'd check with him for pricing.
