I did a set of header gasket today in my 86 coupe man did it suck .

man i hear ya, it took me 2 days to try and remove my cleveland manifolds to replace with longtube hookers. at the end of the second day, i said **** it, and im leaving it for my exhaust guy. my hands are too big and i just cannot get them out because of minimal room

 

+1 sure is biatch to get to those back header bolts ..............

paid someone to put my longtubes on I was so not looking forward to it.

 

how much did it cost you to let someone else put them on?


and i got all my bolts out fine and it only took about 2 hours[&o]

i just could not get the manifold out

 

took me 30min to change one side started from the back worked my way forward

 

Had no probs getting the bolts and the old shorties out, but... Getting the long tube in caused a pain in my a$$ for the better part of a day and night to install. Just could not jack the car up high enough to keep the collector from hitting the ground before I could turn the headers up horizontally. Sooo (you gonna laugh your AO!)... My driveway is gravel and I move the car onto it and dug a couple of ditches under where I had to maneuver the headers through along side of the engine. Now I'm LMAO just remembering it!
