unless you get a block for free(like i did)or next to nothing its about the same price if not more than if you were to buy a new shortblock, new block around $1200 i think + 1200-1400 for stroker kit + you still have to go get the new block bored out.....or a new shortblock from f-p-s or chp for 2300-2800 (depending on pistons and displacment)

If you choose FPS, you'll pay $2799 to get a 2618 piston included (which should be the standard). It wouldn't matter if they were $400. I wouldn't trust anything from FPS. If you choose CHP, you'll pay that much or more. They don't use $1200 blocks, so why are you bringing that up? 351W blocks are $50-100 bare. Roller blocks are slightly higher (but that's not what you're getting in these $2800 shortblocks).

You'll spend less money and have better parts if you do it yourself locally.

a new sportsman block is around 1500, i didnt think new stock replacment 351 blocks were available, what would they be using?

Core blocks like everyone else.That's why they are all .030 over. If they use a new block, it's listed.
