starter "missing"
i've got a problem with my starter not "hitting". i think it is the bendix not fully extending.
sounds terrible.
with the 5 speed, a tko 600, i thought i had to use the starter for a '69 with a 5 speed. lucky for me my father in law owns a salvage yard! i tried it but it has a "spline" that wont allow it to fit. Strangely enough my old starter that fit my 302 automatic did fit. but recently it started this "missing" and i really want to know what to do.
am i using the right starter? for 302 auto versus manual? if not why doesnt the spline line up? i'm using a bellhousing from a modern mustang.
any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
